FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT NURSING PILLOWS

Using a nursing pillow, rather than a regular pillow has a variety of benefits when feeding. Firstly, as nursing pillows are specifically designed to support both baby and mom during feeding, they promote the proper positioning of the baby and its head, making latching easier and reduce the strain on the mother's arms, back and neck. Additionally, nursing pillows are versatile, meaning they can be used for other activities than feeding itself - for example to support the baby during tummy time.

Our nursing pillows are both designed with a contoured shape that conforms to the curves of the caregiver's body, providing optimal support and positioning during feeding sessions. The contoured shape helps distribute the baby's weight evenly, reducing strain on the caregiver's back, neck, and shoulders.

The inside of our standard nursing pillow is made of kapok, a natural material that is inherently hypoallergenic and temperature regulating making it very safe for babies to use. All our nursing pillows are made of certified organic cotton, making them breathable, soft and safe for babies.

The inside of the nursing pillow is not washable, however you can easily wash the cover of the nursing pillow. Simply take it off the pillow and wash it at 30 degrees Celcius. Wash with similar colors to avoid discoloration and don't tubledry or bleach.

How long you wish to use a nursing pillow depends on various factors, but mainly on your personal preferences.

Nursing pillows are typically used from birth through the infant stage, which can last up to around 6 months or longer. However, many nursing pillows are versatile and can be used beyond infancy. As your baby grows, you might find alternative uses for the nursing pillow, such as providing support during tummy time or helping with sitting support as your baby learns to sit independently.

Your comfort level and the need for additional support during feeding sessions will also influence how long you use the nursing pillow. Some parents may continue to use the nursing pillow for as long as it provides comfort and support during feeding or bonding times, while others may transition away from using it as their baby grows older.

Our moon nursing pillow is 55 cm long and 13 cm high. The standard nursing pillow is a little larger, measuring 90 cm in length and 11 cm in height.

The nursing pillows from Moonboon can be used to support both baby and parent in a variety of nursing positions, including the cradle hold, cross-cradle hold, clutch hold, side-lying position, as well as bottle-feeding positions. The pillows can be used to support the baby's head, entire body or as a support for the parents arm - depending on the desired position.

The main difference between the two nursing pillows lie within their size, filling and firmness. The standard nursing pillow is the larger one, and is filled with kapok, making it softer and more flexible than the moon nursing pillow. The moon nursing pillow is a little smaller and is filled with buckwheat hulls, making it more firm and ergonomic.

No, the inside of the nursing pillow cannot be washed. As the insides of the pillows are filled with either kapok or buckwheat hulls, washing it would lead to the clumping of the natural fibres. Instead, we recommend airing out the pillow, washing the cover of the pillow when necessary and using a damp cloth to wash out any other stains.

All our nursing pillow covers are pre-washed and therefore do not need to be washed again before use. Additionally our nursing pillows and covers are made from organic materials and without the use of any chemicals or pesticides.

We do not offer additional covers for the nursing pillows for sale, however should you have an issue with the cover of your nursing pillow, please contact our customer service at hello@moonboon.com and we will find a solution together.
